While the Employer (The Client) is showing you the fine prints of the Red Book (used because it is the most common one), you should have your White Book handy for book handy as well just in case it is not added to the paperwork. You have finally gotten that contract that you spent sleepless night praying it comes through because of the effort invested to make sure both your technical and commercial bids were off the hook. As important and ubiquitous as it is, one would expect it to garner more attention than the FIDIC Red Book which is the most well known Suit. The White for some reason is not a popular FIDIC Suite and for the life of me, I do not know why. So, I have decided in today’s newsletter to write an expose on it. Still, on our FIDIC Suite of Contract series, a connection on LinkedIn had graciously pointed out in his comment that while writing on the series, I had left out the FIDIC White Book.
